Everywhere I hear the same story, my back hurts, my neck is always tight, I have knee pain. The list goes on and on. Most of the time they are minor pains, but did you know that 1 in 5 adults suffer from chronic pain (Breivik, Hattori & Moulin 2005). That is the worldwide statistic; here in the USA it is more than half! When I ask people what they do to help their pain, they almost always say, “Oh I stretch my back, go to a chiropractor, or rest it”. This is a serious problem and not addressing it will not make it go away! The answer lies in daily active work with Eischens Yoga to create more balance in the body.
Problem: Moderate or Chronic Pain caused by stress, psychological factors, old injuries, accidents, etc.
Solution: Do an Eischens Yoga class or daily sequence on your own either when you awaken, before you workout, or after you workout.
Why Eischens Yoga? Because it is active, balanced, alignment that improves posture and helps you do all activities easier and safer. Static stretching on the other hand has now been proven to NOT aid at all in preparing the body for exercise OR reducing injuries. In fact the CDC now backs these facts!!
Follow nature whenever in doubt, no animal on the planet static stretches, they all do active stretches that last from 5-10 seconds and they do them about 10 to 15 times a day. You have seen it; down dog, up dog, cat stretch and lying on their backs and attempting to do back domes. It is instinctual for them
Picture how crazy this looks, picture a horse putting a leg up on the stall door and stretching before the big race….crazy!! What do they do? Walk the track, jog the track, run a bit and then it is showtime!! That is how we warm up and why we do not ever do static stretching in the MBG!!
So go ask your Eischens Yoga Instructor for a few moves to do in the a.m. or repeat a sequence from class as your daily routine. I promise you will feel lighter in no time!!
